Spring 2014 Current Hair Trends

It is easy for women to become bored with their hair. Maybe you are currently tired of your same, old hairstyling routine, or maybe you're sick of the hair color you've been wearing for too long. If so, there are many trends to try this year to spice it up, give your hair a lift and your confidence a boost. So why not try something new?

Attempting current hair trends and latesthairstyles can actually be quite easy, and most of them do not have to be time consuming. One particular trend that has been blooming this year is mermaid waves. All you have to do is braid your hair before you go to bed and unravel it in the morning. Some like to brush it out a bit to loosen the waves, but if you have curlier hair, it would be best to brush it when it's semi-wet before braiding. Curly-haired women know what happens when they brush their hair dry! Also, another way to create the mermaid waves style is to curl your hair, then gently brush the curls out to produce soft waves.

Messy braids have also become a hot hairstyle in 2014. There are a ton of variations of this look, which are some of the following:

  • Loose fishtail braids
  • A normal fishtail braid that is gently loosened to create a thicker look.
  • Medieval "old world" braids
  • Medieval inspired braids often worn by fashion models, including crown braids.
  • Loose french braids
  • French braids that are loosened either gently or greatly.
  • French side braids
  • French braids that trail along the side of the head.
  • Loosened side braids

Regular braids that are braided on the side of the head and softly pulled for a softer, voluminous, messier style.

There are plenty of tutorials on the internet on how to achieve these looks, and it is incredibly helpful to watch YouTube videos.

Among other current hair trends and latest hairstyles, short hair has become incredibly popular. Countless celebrities are sporting pixie cuts, such as Jennifer Lawrence, Miley Cyrus, and Charlize Theron. Loose bangs,

and side swept bangs are often accommodated with these pixie cuts as well. Also wavy bobs are hot this year, with Beyonce making it especially popular.

Certain hair coloring trends are rising as well, such as the "sombre," which is described as being a "subtle ombre." The ombre trend grew old and very overused. Then emerged the sombre, with the procession of colors being much less apparent than the striking contrast in ombre hair. Natalie Portman was seen rocking a gentler ombre hair color, which was then referred to as "sombre." Also Emma Stone was able to pull off a "sombre" as well, with a soft gradation from auburn red to blonde. Even Beyonce with her wavy bob is debuting a sombre style.

Don't stay stuck in a dull phase with your hair. These are just a few of the current hair trends and latest hairstyles, so go see what works for you.
